Our SJC Band program is lead by Mr. Craig Hirotsuka also known as "Mr. H."   Mr. H teaches recorder as part of the music curriculum in Grade 3 as well as directing our beginning, intermediate, and advanced band ensembles.

Band is open to students in grades 4 to 8.  Beginning band students may choose:  flute, clarinet, trumpet or trombone.  Contact Mr H if you would like to play sax, drum, French horn, Baritone horn, or other wind instruments.

Please note: Band class is resuming in-person for the 2021-22 school year in an outdoor format. Musician masks will be mandatory for all band students during this school year. Please purchase one specific for your instrument and face size.  Link and further info in the band packet available below.

Band for all levels is aiming to begin on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Recorder class for Gr 3 is also aiming to begin on this same day during classroom music time.
Band registration begins September 8th and ends on October 5th. Registration is done exclusively via online form.
Beginning band meets Wednesdays and Fridays, 10:15am - 10:45am during recess.
Intermediate band meets Mondays 10:15-10:45am during recess and on Wednesdays 10:45-11:15am during Library time.
Advanced band meets on Wednesdays after school from 12:30-1:15pm.
